Every Game Revealed At PlayStation State Of Play (May 2024) (2024)

Summary

  • May 2024's State of Play event showcased 14 upcoming PlayStation 5 and PS VR2 games, including Silent Hill 2 Remake.
  • Silent Hill 2 Remake's release date was revealed for early October 2024, during the State of Play event by Sony.
  • God of War: Ragnarok will be released for PC in September 2024, expanding Sony's first-party titles to the platform.

The recently broadcast State of Play event in May 2024 revealed several upcoming games for PlayStation consoles, as well as updates on titles that had been announced before. State of Play is Sony’s main event format for all things PlayStation and, every so often, the company hosts a short presentation focusing on games coming to PS5. Some State of Play events focus on a single title, while others are broader and present multiple titles and even news about hardware. This is expected to be a minor presentation for Sony ahead of its rumored participation during Summer Game Fest next week.

May 2024’s State of Play event did not focus on a single game and, instead, presented a wide roster of titles, from first-party products to those developed by partners. The event, which was announced this Wednesday, May 29, lasted around 30 minutes and brought updates on 14 PlayStation 5 and PS VR2 games, some of which are titles produced by PlayStation Studios and are due to be released for Sony’s consoles later in 2024. Among the games, there were a few titles that stood out, some of which had already been featured in PlayStation’s State of Play leak earlier today.

God Of War: Ragnarok Arrives For PC, As Seen On PlayStation’s State Of Play

Game Will Integrate The Wide Roster Of PlayStation Studios Games Available on PC

A relevant reveal that occurred during the State of Play presentation in May 2024 was the announcement of a PC port of PlayStation’s God of War: Ragnarok. The action-adventure game developed by Sony Santa Monica Studio was released back in November 2022 for both PS5 and PS4 consoles. Nearly a year later, the DLC known as Valhalla was released for free, offering players a new roguelite-inspired approach to gameplay, where Kratos must overcome challenges throughout multiple runs set in procedurally generated levels. Now, PC players will be able to experience Kratos’ and Atreus’ most recent adventures in ancient Scandinavia.

The release of God of War: Ragnarok for PC will see that players on the new platform have access to the base game itself, as well as the free Valhalla DLC chapter.

The announcement of the PC port for God of War: Ragnarok during the State of Play event follows Sony’s efforts to expand its audience and release several of its first-party PlayStation titles on the platform. Already available on PC are former PlayStation exclusives, such as Horizon Forbidden West, Ghost of Tsushima, the remake of The Last of Us, Marvel’s Spider-Man, and, of course, God of War (2018). God of War: Ragnarok will be released for PC via Steam and Epic Games Store on September 19 this year, according to the information revealed during the State of Play in May 2024.

In addition to the two aforementioned games, several other announcements were made during the event. The presentation brought forth updates on Capcom’s Monster Hunter Wilds. The action-adventure game will be multiplatform, with releases confirmed for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S, though it was one of the featured titles during the PlayStation State of Play. During the event, Capcom revealed the first full gameplay trailer for Monster Hunter Wilds. The footage showcased the upcoming game's graphics, teased its story and new locations, and demonstrated some of the new gameplay mechanics – of course, new monsters were also highlighted.

The space-set PvP third-person shooter game known as Concord, which was announced back in 2023, was showcased during State of Play in May 2024, revealing more information regarding what players can expect in terms of gameplay. When the title developed by Firewalk was first announced, a short cinematic teaser was shown, but until now, it was unknown exactly what the game would look like. Now, more details about the game's universe have been announced. Concord, which was announced for PS5 and PC, will arrive for those two platforms on August 23 this year.

Concord’s gameplay announcement revealed that it is a 5v5 hero-based shooter, in which each character has unique abilities.

A new entry in the Dynasty Warriors franchise was also shown for the very first time during the State of Play event. Dynasty Warriors Origins will continue offering the musou-based gameplay the series is known for. Marvel Rivals also had its PS5 port confirmed during the event, revealing the PvP game will make its way to current-gen consoles – the confirmation came alongside a trailer showcasing gameplay and several heroes. There will be a Marvel Rivals beta for PS5 in June.
